Desre Simpson – Parish Office Manager

Desre was appointed to the St Aidan’s staffing team in September 2009, as Parish Manager.

Desré and her husband Keith have been members of St Aidan’s since moving to NZ from South Africa in 2002 where they and their family have been very active in the parish. Desré also organises the flower arranging group, of which she herself is a member.

Nathan Bayliss – Ministry Assistant

Hello there,

I am Nathan and I am the new Ministry Assistant at St Aidan’s. My role here is basically an amalgamation of a number of roles: I will be looking after the Youth, taking over the accounts; I’ll be responsible for a number of administration projects and generally assisting in ministry at St Aidan’s.  I come here fresh from completing a Bachelor of Theology at Laidlaw College out in West Auckland.  I am originally from Wellington, where I completed a BA at Victoria University and where I was involved with the TSCF group on campus. While I spent most of my childhood at a Baptist church, I later attended All Saints Anglican church in Haitaitai, which I guess you could call my “home church.” I am looking forward to seeing what God does here at St Aidan’s and to getting to know you all.

Bryce Mason – Director of Music

Bryce is a retired university academic, who joined the parish as Director of Music at Saint Aidan in 2000. Bryce has been a director of music in church circles for 30 years. Bryce is responsible for the choir music, and also responsible for the music for the 9.30 am service, funerals, weddings and special services. The music Bryce brings to St Aidan’s an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary music. Bryce is well known for some stunning classical music performances at the end of the service, and people quite often stay to listen, rather than walk out of the church.

Children’s  Ministry (Children@staidans.co.nz)

Thank you for the warm welcome you have given me since my arrival at St. Aidan’s.  I am privileged to be a new member of staff at the church.  I returned to Auckland from Milan a year ago with my husband and two children.  It is wonderful to be back in my hometown and to be back in the Anglican church.  My first weeks on the job have been enjoyable and it has been lovely getting to know you and especially your children.

I am happy to be entrusted with the job of continuing and enriching children’s ministry in the parish.  I have a mixed background from youth ministry in the Auckland Anglican Diocese to teaching in a Jesuit school in Italy.  I hope to encourage exchange and dialogue within the community in order to know how to best cater for children in the ongoing ministry.  My vision and hope is that all children will find something to come to at St. Aidan’s.
