Friday 11th Crazy Games Nite :

The last one was almost as popular as the Hunger Games, so its back!!  A night of new games, old games, old games with a twist, very old games without a twist, twists with games, news with games, news with an unexpected twist at the end….. You get the picture. (or is that, do you get the picture?) Bring$5 for dinner, and friends!

Friday 18th  Remu’area Youth night

Yep, it’s back. With vengeance! 7pm, right here at St Aidan’s. The last ones were flipping fantastic, so you don’t want to miss this one!  As we are going to be hosting this one, it will be really great if you could make an effort to come to this one. There will be no dinner,  however, please bring something for supper, as it’s part of our hosting role.

Friday 25th forty hour famine weekend

Are you doing the famine? You should!  If you’re not signing up at school, you can sign up though us! We are going to be celebrating it at youth group this week.  Who’s up for a “last dinner” before the famine?  Should be a good night.  More details to come.

2011 Youth Sailing trip

On the weekend of the election, the youth of St Adian’s, along with some parents and helpers, enjoyed a weekend together sailing, kayaking and camping.    The original plan was to sail to Motutapu Island and camp there overnight. However, strong winds meant that plans had to change, and Saturday morning saw us drive up north to Puhoi instead, for what tuned out to be a fun packed day nevertheless.  There we spent an hour and a half cruising down the Puhoi river in kayaks.  After that  adventure, we had a stop for lunch (Nuwanthie got quite excited over the swing at the playground) before heading to Mahurangi. While some of us were staying  at Fred’s bach, others camped down by the beach.  There was also  time for a  bush/ beach walk, before  enjoying a relaxed evening  and  a delicious BBQ at the bach.

The next day we had some God time, before heading back to Auckland for a day on the water. We were almost unlucky, as one of the boats had trouble starting.  However with that sorted, we were able to head out and enjoy a calm day on the harbour, anchoring near Rangitoto Island, where some of us had a quick dip in the cold water before lunch. While there weren’t the best winds for sailing, we managed to get a little on the way back.

The trip gave us an excellent opportunity to enjoy the marvellous creation which God has given us. Creation glorifies God, and as humans, we are created to be stewards of creation. It is therefore right for  Christians to take the time to enjoy creation.  More importantly, it was also chance to get to know each other. We have a God who is calling his people  into relationship with himself and with others.  A weekend like this is therefore a great chance to build relationships, both with God and with our fellow believers.

A big thanks to all the adults who came along and made it possible. Particular thanks goes to Caroline who organised much of it, and to Fred and John for the use of  boats and Fred’s bach.
