The Reverend Wesley Fifita
Wesley’s background:
Wesley comes to us having served for two years as Priest Assistant at St Philip’s, St Heliers. He was born, raised and educated on Tonga Island in an Anglican family before studying history and philosophy at the University of Auckland and social practice at Unitec, New Zealand.
Prior to discerning God’s call to ministry formation in 2021, Wesley worked for a non-profit community organisation for five years and then joined the New Zealand Corrections Department. His last officer post was at the Auckland District Courts in Auckland City and Panmure. It was in these fields of work that his call to ordination became very genuine.
“I had a sense of belonging that God had been calling me to ordination for some time, and, prayerfully, I tested that call and was discerned to train for ordination”.
Wesley is blessed to be married to Viola, and the proud father to four boys.
Favourite Bible Verse:
My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me – 2 Corinthians 12:9
Hobbies:
Wesley enjoys the gym, running, swimming, walking and cycling, plus time with his family.
